Operating 22 marine terminals in 10 countries, Yilport Holding’s Puerto Bolívar Container Terminal in Ecuador is one of the most preferred gateways to the Latin America's largest industrial hinterland and consumer market. In order to increase terminal capacity and strengthen the terminal’s operational performance, YILPORT invested in a fleet of 18 new E-RTG cranes as part of its greenfield modernization and expansion project.

18 Drive-in L units that enable a fully automated connection of the rubber-tired gantry cranes to the conductor rail systems in less than 20 seconds, have been shipped to Japan to Mitsui E&S Machinery Co. Ltd., the manufacturer of the E-RTG cranes. The first six E-RTGs will arrive in Ecuador in May 2020 and construction work including the steel structure for the conductor rail systems in the container yard will start shortly. “More than 2,500 meters of conductor rails will be installed as back-to-back solution to supply electrical power to the 18 E-RTGs running in 16 container blocks”, explains Utku Karaarslan, Manager Global E-RTG Projects at Conductix-Wampfler.

The new E-RTGs are 1 over 6 high and 7+1 wide to handle the yard operations and are equipped with latest state-of-the-art technologies. “We are pleased that our sustainable solutions and the mix of global project management and local contacts with knowledge of local conditions and terms will help Yilport Puerto Bolivar to serve +22,000 TEU container ships in the future,” concludes Karaarslan.
